The Lacs continue to dominate the hick-hop (country meets rap) movement on their third release, but take that Sublime shirt on the cover as a sign that this one stretches its legs a bit. For instance, the highlight "Empties" ("Your beer is gettin' high, but you're takin' baby sips/You gotta chug it down, throw it back and tie it on") is country with a bit of Sublime-styled, jam band reggae underneath, while the ballad "She Runnin'" strolls easy like a Brad Paisley song. A couple other numbers go all-out rock, or Rock as in Kid Rock, but those who want the fat beats coupled with drunken whoops and hollers get their fill as well. Check the anthem-like title track or the great "Smoke Stack" for proof, or jump right to the end and enjoy the classic "Kickin' Up Mud," the group's debut single which winds up here as a very desirable bonus track.
