User Album Review
This is a superbly produced CD. The clarity and range of her voice is displayed superbly on this CD. Here she draws on the Nordic folk tradition, accompanied by some suberb music composition from keyboards, saxophone, and Norwegian whistle, and others. Although it draws on the old, it is very much a modern production, and I think it will always sound good because those who worked on this CD were very good at their work and they have produced something that I believe is timeless. It's only a minor point, but the CD cover / sleeve is now a bit dated... but I hasten to add that the music definitely is not. Some of Sissel's later CDs I am a bit less enthusiastic about, but this is because she has meandered into the world of pop, and while I can never fault her voice in any style she chooses, I do love the work she put into this particular CD and her contribution to the understanding of the Nordic tradition which is still playing out and developing as she has proven. -Fintan; Amazon.co.uk
