Album DescriptionAvailable in:
No rationale is apparent for this compilation of previously recorded Dan Fogelberg tracks assembled by Sony Music Special Products, the division tasked with coming up with such budget-priced collections. That is, no artistic or aesthetic rationale is apparent. Most of the songs are drawn from Fogelberg's first three albums, Home Free (1972), Souvenirs (1974), and Captured Angel (1975), and they lean toward his softer and more country-oriented side. A couple of hits -- "Part of the Plan" and "Leader of the Band" -- are tossed in along with the LP tracks. Certainly, the album demonstrates that those LP tracks stand up next to the hits; for those who only know the hits, the disc shows there's more of the same where they came from. Basically, though, this is just a profit-taking gesture from a major label looking for ways to exploit the catalog of an artist whose recordings it controls.
