Battalions of Fear é o álbum de estreia da banda alemã Blind Guardian, lançado em 1988. O álbum é um cru e impolido trabalho de speed metal que chega ao thrash metal. Ele carece de muitos dos floreios estilísticos que marcariam a música da banda em anos posteriores, focando mais em velocidade e agressividade. A faixa de abertura "Majesty" permanece uma favorita entre os fãs e está frequentemente nas apresentações ao vivo da banda. Este álbum foi remasterizado, remixado e relançado em 15 de Junho de 2007, juntamente com toda a primeira fita demo da banda (então chamada Lucifer's Heritage), Symphonies of Doom, como parte das faixas bônus. A capa foi pintada por van Waay Design. As músicas "Majesty", "By the Gates of Moria" e "Gandalf's Rebirth" fazem referência ao livro O Senhor dos Anéis de J. R. R. Tolkien. "Guardian of the Blind" é inspirada em um romance de Stephen King, It. E "By The Gates of Moria" no compositor tcheco Antonín Dvořák.
