Sunshine was the third album from S Club 7. It was released on 26 November 2001 and features the hit singles "Don't Stop Movin'", "You", "Have You Ever" and "Never Had a Dream Come True". It made its debut at its number 3 peak in December 2001 on the Top 40 UK albums chart, selling more in its first week (136,000) than any of their other albums and became Double Platinum after selling over 600,000 copies. Sunshine was the last album that featured Paul Cattermole; he left the group in March 2002. The album peaked at number thirteen in New Zealand. The album also charts at number 17 for the 2001 UK year end charts.
The album was a change from previous album '7', which contained a overall R&B sound throughout the album. 'Sunshine' in someways was a return to a pop sound like in their 1st album ("You", "It's Alright", "Sunshine", "Good Times", "Summertime Feeling", "Never Had a Dream Come True") but it included dance elements which was new. ("Stronger", "Don't Stop Movin'", "Dance,Dance,Dance") They held on to R&B sounds as well. ("Show Me Your Colours", "I Will Find You", "Right Guy" "Have You Ever", "Boy Like You") Every member of the group has at least one solo song on the album, and there is more group participation and harmony throughout the album. Also most lyrics for the album is positive except "Have You Ever" which speaks of lost love and wishing for a second chance.
Three of the singles peaked at number 1 before the album was released. It was also believed that "Stronger" was set to be the next single following "You", which would have been the first time a single was led by Tina Barrett. This was cancelled however, due to Paul Cattermole announcing that he was leaving the group.
'Summertime Feeling' samples 'Everywhere' which was originally performed by Anglo-American band 'Fleetwood Mac.'
