Label DescriptionBanger Musik is a German rap/hip-hop independent label founded in 2012 by rapper Farid Bang, Ralph M. Jacobs and Mohamed Elbouhlali.
After Farid Bang's album Der letzte Tag deines Lebens charted at number 3, Farid Bang no longer saw any reason to stay with the Sony Music sublabel 7days music entertainment AG. Out of necessity, unable to find a suitable label, he decided to set up on his own. He poached Ralph M. Jacobs (* 1974) from 7days and brought in Mohamed "Mo7art" Elbouhlali, also known as "Mo" (* around 1984), whom he still knew from German Dream. With a starting capital of 25,000 euros, they finally founded the label together on April 4, 2012. The name is based on a song from Farid Bang's album Asphalt Massaka 2. The first signing was to be the rapper Al-Gear, also from Düsseldorf, with whom Farid Bang had been friends for a long time. However, the two fell out at short notice. At the same time, Farid Bang discovered Majoe, and the duo Majoe & Jasko became Banger Musik's first signing. They were followed by KC Rebell and Summer Cem.
- In 2014, the label achieved the feat of having three number one hits in the German album charts within a year.
The label was initially distributed by Groove Attack, and since January 2015 by distribution partner Warner Music.
- In April 2015, the first "Banger Mag" was published in cooperation with the hip-hop magazine Backspin, a magazine with interviews and background stories featuring only artists from the label, musician friends or colleagues of the label makers.
- On June 2, 2016, the new Banger music signing 18 Karat was unveiled.
- In 2014, 2016 and 2017, Banger Musik was named "Best Label National" at the Hiphop.de Awards.
- In July 2018, KC Rebell announced that he was leaving the label.
- On November 1, 2018, rapper Sipo was introduced as the new Banger Musik signing.
