Shakthisree Gopalan is an award winning recording artist, singer, songwriter & music producer based in Chennai and New York.
Most noted for her collaborations with Oscar and Grammy winning composer A.R.Rahman, Shakthi received her big break with the song ‘Nenjukulle’ composed for the Mani Ratnam movie ‘Kadal' following its premiere on MTV Unplugged India cir. 2012, where Shakthi performed the song live, sharing the stage with one of her greatest inspirations, idol and mentor - the legendary ‘Mozart of Madras’ Mr. A.R. Rahman.
Shakthi has worked extensively with reputed composers in the Indian Film Music Industry recording over 150 songs featured in original soundtracks of Indian films in multiple Indian languages - Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi, and is the voice of "Circle of Life" in Tamil and Telugu - the iconic song from Lion King 2019 - composed by the Hans Zimmer.
Born and raised in Kochi - Kerala, Shakthi has been releasing her music independently over the years, and is passionate about amalgamating her diverse musical influences and inspirations. An alumni of Berklee NYC, Shakthi has been working on her debut EP - a collection of songs - reflections that bring together easy listening pop and Neo Soul influences, infused with Indian Classical vocal styles.
