Brisk Fingaz (born September 25, 1980 in Hildesheim; real name Kai Aschemann) is a German hip-hop producer from Hanover. Brisk Fingaz was born in Hildesheim in the fall of 1980 under the name Kai Aschemann. He found his way into the hip-hop subculture through graffiti. His first musical influences were Die Fantastischen Vier, whose album Jetzt geht's ab was his first album. DJ Premier then became his role model. He was later influenced by rappers such as Mobb Deep, Wu-Tang Clan and Cypress Hill as well as producers Havoc, Pete Rock, Just Blaze and The Alchemist. At the age of 16, Aschemann met DJ CSP, who taught him the basic techniques of DJing, after which he purchased the digital audio workstation Samplitude Pro X for his own productions. He mainly works with samples, which he takes from the genre of progressive rock, for example. Using a keyboard, he plays instruments such as bass, strings and guitars onto the sample. He is also sometimes supported by studio musicians. In 2001, he collaborated with the rapper Spax for the first time under the pseudonym Brisk Fingaz. After the remix EP Perspektiven und Relationen, he contributed most of the instrumentals to Engel & Ratten. Brisk Fingaz then began to produce more and more for the albums of well-known rappers. He contributed to Back to the Wall by Franky Kubrick, Die linke und rechte Hand Gottes by Snaga & Pillath, Damals wie heute by Donato, Die John Bello Story by Kool Savas and Palwolf by Pal One. In March 2005, Brisk Fingaz's first producer album, entitled Gegenwind, was released on the Frankfurt label Starting Lineup Records. For this album, he recorded songs with F.R., Later One, Pillath, Beneluxus, Mr. Knight, EF-EL-OH, Noz, Egocentrik, ZM Jay Lord, Stress & Trauma, Saddam Syed, Faust, Maze and mnemonic. He then collaborated with Warheit rapper Lunafrow on the mixtape Innere Konflikte, which was released in October 2005. As executive producer, he was responsible for mixing and mastering Mr. Knight's album Rettet die Welt. This was followed by productions for Mittelweg by F.R., Mein Moneyfest by Franky Kubrick, Insallah by Manuellsen, Deluxe von Kopf bis Fuß by Samy Deluxe, Eine Frage der Ehre by Snaga & Pillath, Ich bin deutscher Hip-Hop by Sentino and Game Over by Azad. The latter signed the Hildesheim native to his label Bozz Music at the end of 2006.
In the following two years, Brisk Fingaz worked as a producer on numerous albums. He was involved in Aus Liebe zum Spiel by Snaga & Pillath, City of God by Godsilla, Schmutzige Euros 2 by King Orgasmus One and Godsilla, Jack is back by Patrick mit Absicht, Blockschrift by Azad, Das ist meine Welt (ihr lebt nur darin) by Manuellsen, Hin Zur Sonne by Casper, Echte Musik by Jonesmann, Unter der Sonne by Chakuza, Gehirnwäsche by JokA, Vorsicht, Stufe! by F.R. and Ein Mann, ein Wort by Massiv. In November 2008, Bozz Music released Brisk Fingaz's second album Einzelkämpfer, which features Kool G Rap, Curse, Morlockk Dilemma, Griot, Damion Davis, Germany, Jeyz and Sera Finale, among others. In addition to the production, he also recruited the rappers involved for the project and took on the post-processing in the form of mixing and mastering. The track Schicksal, which was created in collaboration with Godsilla, was also made into a music video. After working with Azad on Azphalt Inferno and Assassin, Brisk Fingaz lost his artist contract due to the closure of Bozz Music at the end of 2009.
As a freelance producer, Brisk Fingaz subsequently worked on Meine Zeit and Der Ghettotraum in Handarbeit by Massiv, Azzlack Stereotyp by Haftbefehl and Der letzte Tag deines Lebens by Farid Bang. In 2012, he received a triple platinum award in France and a platinum award in Belgium for his collaboration on the album À la poursuite du bonheur by French pop and R'n'B singer M. Pokora. He produced four tracks for the 2013 album Jung, brutal, gutaussehend 2 by artists Kollegah and Farid Bang. With the songs Du Kennst Den Westen and Dissen Aus Prinzip, he was responsible for the background music for two singles. With 80,000 units sold in the first week, the album entered the album charts in Germany at No. 1. The album also reached No. 1 in the album charts in Austria and Switzerland. Jung, brutal, gutaussehend 2 was awarded a gold record in both Germany and Austria.
With Nu Eta Da and Masta by Olexesh, Neue Deutsche Welle 2 and Keiner kommt klar mit mir by Fler, Mama by MoTrip and Leben II by Azad, he worked on other well-known German rap albums. From 2016, Brisk Fingaz worked more closely with rapper Spax again. The joint EP Privatvorstellung was released in 2016. In the same year, he released the joint album with Hanoverian street rapper Sinan49 in collaboration with Gee Futuristic. A year later, the two hip-hop musicians released the project Wahrheit. The EP Vintage, which he recorded together with British rapper KC Da Rookee and was distributed via recordJet, followed at the end of October 2018.
