Axelle Fanyo, born to a Togolese father and a West Indian mother , grew up in Seine-Saint-Denis .
After a degree in musicology at the Sorbonne Paris IV , she studied music at the Aubervilliers conservatory , before opting for opera singing at the age of 21.
