Zed Yago was a German heavy metal band, founded in 1985, and considered to be a pioneer in the genre of dramatic metal.
Originally founded in 1986 as Sedjago, the band around frontwoman and singer Jutta Weinhold released their debut album From Over Yonder in 1988, which deals with Zed Yago, the fictional daughter of the flying Dutchman, who also gave the band its name. The album was quite unusual for the time, because the processing of Wagner motifs was novel.
After a legal dispute, the project later changed its name to Velvet Viper and then Weinhold. However, Zed Yago's success could not be continued and they disbanded.
