Since they began releasing music as Overmono in 2016, brothers Tom and Ed Russell have been conquering the world's clubs and festival stages with a confident sense of style. The duo's name is derived from the Welsh suburb of Overmonnow, where they have their roots. In this periphery, they immersed themselves in British rave culture, and with Overmono, they have put their own dazzling spin on it.
They impressed with the three EPs Arla I, II and III, all released on XL Recordings. A string of strong singles followed, and in 2023 the duo's full-length debut Good Lies was finally released, instantly sending a cloud of critical acclaim towards the duo's superior take on dance-friendly electronic music with an edge.
"UK rave history is distilled to perfection" wrote The Guardian in a superlative review, while Pitchfork praised the duo's ability to bridge the gap between sophisticated experimentation and ecstatic festival bangers.
Overmono have been widely praised for their ability to create a great live experience with their rave gems that masterfully blend catchy vocal samples, breakbeats, UK garage and techno. Already in 2021, DJ Mag named them the UK's Best Live Act, and since then they have celebrated triumphs at major festivals such as Coachella.
