Artist Biography
Available in: gb icon
Spring was a Spanish/French indie pop band formed in 1993 by Alexandra "Alex" Pavlou (formerly of Rosa Luxemburg, vocals) and Jean-Baptiste Garnero (guitar), both of them avid fans of British indie band Felt. Producer/songwriter Daniel Bangalter also contributed at the band's founding. They took their name from an old Blue Note jazz record. Christophe Plantier (guitar) and François Jugé (bass) joined them later, after Bangalter left the band to manage his son's band Darlin' —later known as Daft Punk, whose own Thomas Bangalter mixed Spring's first single and played keyboards as well.

Throughout their entire career, Spring released six singles and three albums, mostly through Elefant Records, a cult Spanish indie label. They also played gigs along bands like Pulp, Lush, Moose, Broadcast, Damon and Naomi, High Llamas and The Divine Comedy. The band disbanded in 2000.
