Producer, composer and arranger and former husband of Nina Simone.
A former police detective, he married Simone in 1960 and became her recording agent and sometime producer/songwriter.
They had a daughter, Lisa Celeste, in 1961, who became a theatre / musical performer and singer with Liquid Soul under the stage name of simply Simone.
