Mikko Franck (born April 1, 1979 in Helsinki) is a Finnish conductor.
Mikko Franck begins the violin at 5 years. He continued his violin studies at the Sibelius Academy from 1992. Listening to him lead an orchestra at a birthday, Jorma Panula takes him immediately as a private student. At the age of 23, and without obtaining a degree, Franck had directed the main Scandinavian orchestras as well as the Philharmonia or the London Symphony Orchestra, the RAI National Symphony Orchestra, the Staatsoper of Berlin.
He also directed, among others, the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra.
Between 2002 and 2007, he assured the artistic direction of the Belgian National Orchestra.
His registration of Saga and Lemminkäinen Suite with the Symphony Orchestra of Swedish Radio has earned him the golden diapason and an appointment for the Grammy Awards of the best orchestral interpretation in 2001.
Mikko Franck has insured the direction of Richard Wagner's Opera, the Ghost Vessel, with the Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra, Orange Choregies, July 12, 2013, in the presence of assistance of nearly 10,000 spectators.
It succeeds in 2015 in Myung-whun Chung at the head of the Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra for a period of three years. In February 2017, his contract is extended until 2022.
In March 2018, he was appointed Ambassador of UNICEF France.
