LATASHÁ is a multi-dimensional artist and holistic entrepreneur who connects fans with their highest, most-powerful selves through music, film, and performance art.
While her journey began as a Brooklyn-bred teen using poetry to navigate the traumas of life, LATASHÁ has since transformed into a physical manifestation of growth, empowerment, and self-knowledge. From “hip-hop rapper” to now “multi-faceted, international artist”, LATASHÁ gives the perfect balance between grit and beauty, passion and innovation. With every stage of her artistic transcendence, a new layer is peeled back revealing LATASHÁ’s identity and constant evolution—she openly shares her journey with a level of mystique that leaves her fans, “da homies”, in awe. Her music is heart-centered, energy-focused, and grounded in her devotion to self-discovery, wellness, spirituality, and creativity.
Her work weaves in and out of themes like self-exploration, divine femininity, magic, empowerment, Black joy, and enlightenment, while honoring her identity as a multi-lingual, Afro-Caribbean Latinx. LATASHÁ takes you on a psychological and metaphysical journey of self.
LATASHÁ started her journey as a poet, during her time at Wesleyan University. After graduation, LATASHÁ stepped into the local scene through poetry nite, hosting club parties and jumping into rap cyphers with the moniker "L.A”. After releasing her first mixtape, “The Presentation”, Latasha began to transcend into a lyrical explorer. Since then, she has self-released two albums “BLAK” ,”Teen Nite at Empire” and her recent single “WHO I AM”, which can be heard on Netflix’s “Self Made”.
Although she would say this is all by accident, her gift of energy infused in her music has manifested her world. Coming up from Brooklyn, LATASHÁ tells of challenging experiences that shaped her into making music that empowers herself to evolve and feel good doing it. And through her high vibration, genre-bending sounds and dream-like visuals, she connects with her audiences through passion elated-emotion and subtle magic.
LATASHÁ has performed at several festivals including SXSW, A3C. Afro-Latino Fest and Brooklyn Hip Hop Fest. Coined one of the most dynamic Hip-Hop performers in NYC, LATASHÁ’s performances take you into her world. Opening for some of her favorites like Big Sean, Princess Nokia, Ghostface Killah, and Q-Tip to name a few, LATASHÁ has built her core following in the NYC scene through incredible creative performances. She also has a great fanbase in Canada, Brazil and London, and plans to tour in 2021.
Growth at it’s best, LATASHÁ became the first Hip Hop artist-in-residence at National Sawdust, where she began to incubate her creative multimedia performances. In 2019, she led her first directorial work “POWERPLAY” at The Shed. In addition to her creative prowess, LATASHÁ has also shown dexterity in the commercial realm through writing and performing for Maybelline, Ulta Beauty and Tic Tac x IheartRadio. LATASHÁ is also an Apple Music x Beats1 favorite with much support from Hot 97’s Ebro Darden.
Currently, LATASHÁ is independent and cultivating various company. Her recent endeavor is her new a holistic creative content company called LYTEWRK, where she offers workshops, meditations and community to support people moving into creative paths. She is a co-founder to LYTEHAUS MEDIA , a Black creative content and production company coming soon. really looking forward to releasing new music with Honey Dijon in the near future and is also excited for a full length collaborative work coming soon various artists including Australia’s PNAU. While in quarantine, Latashá has been keeping up with her growth via instagram and working on an upcoming albums and expanding with LYTEWRK.
