Dispirited Spirits is a project founded by Rodrigo Dias, a portuguese 17-year-old musician, in 2020. Raised in a very musical environment, Dias began recording songs in his bedroom and publishing them under the 'Spirits alias. Such songs consist of extremely dynamic and fluid compositions in the fields of Indie Rock, Neo-psychedelia and Indietronica, following influences such as Car Seat Headrest , Radiohead and The Flaming Lips. Furthermore, his works are profoundly inspired by astronomy and the universe, another passion of his, creating lush, sui generis soundscapes which echo through the boundaries of audio and space-time. In a live performance environment, the spirits expand to a band line-up, which helps Dias' compositions truly shine.
On October 2020, Dispirited Spirits released "Negatives of the Moon (On a Moonless Night)", a 6 minute rollercoaster of psychedelic indie rock, indietronica beats and punk mischief, having been well-received within the local scene. This piece of work is taken from the debut album, which is currently in the works and is planned to take off in early 2021.
