DAVID SHANKLE GROUP is a progressive power metal band founded by the legendary guitar virtuoso and master instructor. David “The Shred Demon” Shankle. David is one of the most respected and talented composer guitarists shredding up the metal scene today. He is well known for playing 7 string over-the-neck scales, arpeggios and string skipping, along with being a master of many other guitar techniques. David was a member of MANOWAR from 1988 to 1994, playing on the epic platinum album “The Triumph Of Steel” and co-writing “Master Of The Wind”, “The Burning”, “Ride the Dragon” and “Demon’s Whip”. David left in 1994, after countless sold-out tours all over the world, and attended Roosevelt Music University in Chicago to improve his jazz and classical guitar skills. David’s signature over the neck style guitar playing can be seen on many videos including “Ashes To Ashes” and the 2005 MANOWAR Earthshaker Fest DVD. Now having refined and nearly perfected his craft, David brings decades of experience and hard work to the table with the DAVID SHANKLE GROUP.
On vocals is Warren Halvarson.DSG is about pure talent and has been tagged “Dangerous Speed Guitar” by many well known and talented musicians. Warren. A Chicago native who began his singing career in the mid 1980's while fronting a band called Crystal Axe which also featured Michael Posch. Then Warren briefly fronted a fusion metal band called NVS, which featured Mike Garrett of Zoetrope & Supermercado. During the early 1990's, Warren continued to hone his vocal skills by fronting the Broad St. Bullies. During the next several years, Warren worked on numerous original projects with artists including Johnny Monaco, Enuff Znuff and Joey Kornatowski, Lynch/NVS. Warren is one of the most respected and talented vocalists in the Chicago metal scene today. His range, power, clarity and dynamic stage presence are well known to legions of fans.
On Bass is Mike Streicher.
I have played in numerous original & cover bands over the years such as: Disrupter, Wretched, Inuendo, Dye Alive, Virus, and Insideout to name a few. All of these bands exposed me to different playing styles, and challenges. But in all of my projects I have never had to compromise and play something that I didn’t feel was right for me. I have always been able to hold that Heavy edge. Some of you may know me from my recent project “NEMESIS THEORY”. We brought back a High Energy & Uncompromised Heaviness to the local Metal scene. My playing style has always been focused around Metal, Hard Rock, Progressive Rock, and Progressive Metal. I have continuously evolved as a player and added 5, 6, and 8 string basses to the arsenal. I am very fortunate to currently play in the only Chicago area Queensryche tribute “Kings of the Ryche”, and in the Chicago based Ultimate Metallica tribute “BLACKENED”. These bands are very dear to me and allow me to pay homage to some of the greats of Metal. Now once again I am faced with new challenges and a seemingly endless new Metal horizon. I have known David Shankle for several years and have always been impressed with his unbelievable guitar playing, and shredding talent. His Solo work and his playing with “Manowar” speak for themselves… I am Humbled & Honored to now join the fray, and once again carry the torch for Heavy Metal !
