One True Thing, originally known as Scarab, was an American pop rock band from Long Island, New York. The band gained notable attention when lead singer, Melanie Wills, sang on two From Autumn to Ashes' songs, "Short Stories With Tragic Endings" and "Autumn’s Monologue."
One True Thing was started in the 1990s by guitarist Milan Millevoy and 16 year old Melanie Wills on vocals. In 2001, before the band was going to record their first full length album, Ray Greene (of Hardcore Punk band, Fahrenheit 451) joined the band. They enlisted producer Tom Soares to record their full length "Finally". Following its release, Melanie appeared on From Autumn to Ashes records "Too Bad You're Beautiful", Short Stories With Tragic Endings", and "Autumn's Monologue" from "The Fiction We Live". In 2005, Mike Pilato, formerly of From Autumn to Ashes joined the band on bass.
