Wolfgang Haffner (born December 7 , 1965 in Wunsiedel ) is a German jazz drummer .
Haffner grew up as the son of an organ builder and a church musician and learned to play the drums - and piano - from the age of seven; among others he received lessons from Evert Fraterman . In 1983 he was on tour with Konstantin Wecker . Between 1984 and 1989 Haffner was a member of the Franco-German jazz ensemble; later he played in Peter Herbolzheimer 's big band , with Chaka Khan (1994-1995) and Klaus Doldinger's Passport (1989-2000). He also played in the NDR Big Band and the hr Big Band drums. He is also a studio and live musician, and he also composes and produces for other artists, including the Icelandic band Mezzoforte , on some of whose releases he can also be heard as a drummer.
