Anja Lechner is a German cellist of classical music , born in Cassel . In addition to her work in classical music and contemporary music , as a member of the Rosamunde Quartett or solo, Anja Lechner has also worked with jazz , improvisational and world music musicians , especially with Dino Saluzzi . His work is mainly documented by the ECM label .
Lechner was a member of the Rosamunde Quartett , founded in 1992, until its dissolution in 2009 3 , with whom she explored the classical and especially contemporary repertoire: Anton Webern , Valentin Silvestrov , Tigran Mansurian , Thomas Larcher .
An important facet of his work is the collaboration with musicians of different cultures and backgrounds, especially with contemporary jazz musicians and pianists. She has worked with French pianist François Couturier , Swiss pianist Sylvie Courvoisier , Ukrainian pianist Misha Alperin , and Greek pianist Vassilis Tsabropoulos .
An important collaboration was made with Argentinian bandoneon player Dino Saluzzi , first with the Rosamunde quartet, then in duet. Lechner heard Saluzzi for the first time in the early 1980s in Munich, and found that "her music was nothing like what she knew and yet was familiar" . Wanting to play with him, Manfred Eicher brought them together for the first time in 1999 . His work in this context is essentially to incorporate the culture of his partner, develop techniques of improvisation adapted, and make its own classical culture 4. This goes so far as to play completely improvised pieces
