The acclaimed conductor and winner of several international competitions, Attilio Cremonesi, studied piano, organ, harpsichord, and conducting in Piacenza and at the Schola Cantorum in Basel. After being a long-time assistant of René Jacobs, Cremonesi today counts as one of the most renowned specialists of rarely performed classical and baroque compositions. His numerous award-winning recordings evidence his remarkable success.
As a much sought-after interpreter of Mozart, Händel, Monteverdi as well as Rameau, Vivaldi, Purcell, Sartori, Hasse and many others, he has been guest at some of the most important concert halls, opera houses and festivals of the world, such as Innsbrucker Festwochen, Wiener Festwochen, Dresdner Musikfestspielen, Schwetzinger Festspielen, Lucerne Festival, Festival Radio France Montpellier, Pergolesi Festival Jesi, Prager Frühling, the Deutsche Oper and Staatsoper Berlin, as well as in Bonn, Oslo, Antwerp, Paris, Toulouse, Montpellier, Geneva, Lucerne, Basel, Vienna, Amsterdam, Lisbon, and Sydney.
He worked with such renowned institutions such as Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, including for the award-winning production of Dido and Aeneas staged by Sasha Waltz, Vocalconsort Berlin, Freiburger Barockorchester, La Cetra Barockorchester Basel, Orchestra del Teatro La Fenice, Collegium Vocale Gent, Netherlands Bach Society, Café Zimmermann (solo recital with Vivica Genaux), Balthasar-Neumann-Ensemble, and Kammerorchester Basel (European tour with Handel’s Ezio) and regularly works with the Kärntner Sinfonieorchester.
In recent years, Cremonesi conducted various concerts, e.g. with La Cetra Baroque Orchestra Basel at the Innsbruck Festival, the Munich Symphonic Orchestra, and the Concerto Cologne in Amsterdam as well as the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn. He led Orfeo in Bern and Antigona (Tommaso Traetta) at Theater an der Wien with the theater’s young ensemble. Furthermore, he was a guest in Klagenfurt with Handel’s Giulio Cesare, in Rheinsberg and Münster with Alcina (Stage director: Isabel Ostermann), in Santiago de Chile with Le nozze di Figaro and Don Giovanni, as well as in Toulouse with the new productions of Le nozze di Figaro, La clemenza di Tito and Turco in Italia and La Cenerentola in Mannheim.
In season 2018/19 he already led the highly acclaimed production Le Cenerentola at Nationaltheater Mannheim as well as the world premiere of Jazziah, a work that combines Jazz and Classical in Bern and Halle.
Upcoming engagements include Così fan tutte and Die Zauberflöte at Teatro Municipal de Santiago de Chile, Alcina at Stadttheater Klagenfurt, as well as concerts i.a. in Augsburg, Potsdam and Halle.
