Sivert Høyem, born on January 22, 1976, in Sortland, Norway, is a well-known Norwegian musician, celebrated for his deep, commanding voice and introspective lyrics. He initially rose to fame as the lead vocalist of the rock band Madrugada, which achieved significant success in Norway with five number-one albums between 1999 and 2008. Following the tragic death of band member Robert Burås in 2007, Madrugada disbanded after releasing their last album and completing their final tour in 2008.
Since then, Høyem has forged a successful solo career. His solo discography includes several acclaimed albums like Ladies and Gentlemen of the Opposition (2004), Moon Landing (2009), and Lioness (2016), with Moon Landing and subsequent albums reaching the top of Norwegian charts. Høyem is also known for his involvement with the Volunteers, with whom he released the album Exiles in 2006.
In 2024, Høyem released his latest solo album On an Island, which debuted at number two on the Norwegian charts. His music often explores themes of existential reflection and personal loss, set against the backdrop of expansive, atmospheric soundscapes.
