Artist Biography Available in: Maarten Hartveldt (Eindhoven 1953) studied at the Brabants Conservatory and concentrated mainly on composing music for films and documentaries. For this work he was internationally recognized many times. In 1992 he moved into a former convent chapel at the Capucijnenstraat and started his Chapel Studio and his own label Total Music Design. He produced CDs for many well-known musicians, such as the Mantra album by Karl-Heinz Stockhausen. For this Hartveldt received the Edison Classical in 1996. Other clients included De Efteling, Circle Percussion, Van Kampen Slaughterhouse, Marco Bakker, Ronald Brautigam and the Don Cossack Choir. On his label he gives all the recordings of the Metropole Orkest worldwide. For this Hartveldt was twice nominated for a Grammy Award in 1999. A well-known Dutch film production for which he composed the music, The butterfly lifts the cat (1994). In 2009 he published the children's book Rudolph's Music Book (with CD). Hartveldt initiated the jazz education at the Fontys Conservatory (formerly the Brabants Conservatory).
