Born in Florence, she graduated in cello at the "Luigi Cherubini" conservatory of her city, under the guidance of Andrea Nannoni and Franco Rossi. Besides her activity in the main Italian orchestras (Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, ORT-Orchestra della Toscana, Symphony Orchestra Rai National Theater, Teatro dell'Opera di Roma), has achieved with the highest marks the diploma in baroque cello at the Conservatory "Guido Cantelli" of Novara, teacher Gaetano Nasillo.
After working with some of the major Italian orchestras and having participated in numerous first performances of contemporary music (he recorded as soloist "Faustimmung" by D. Lombardi, he dedicated himself with Gaetano Nasillo to the rediscovery of the Italian repertoire for eighteenth century cello performed on original tools.
Their CDs, recorded for the labels Zig Zag Territoires and Arcana received critical prizes, such as the 2006 Amadeus award for Salvatore Lanzetti's Sonata op.1. In 2010 he recorded with G. Nasillo and L. Guglielmi the Sonatas by Antonio Caldara (5 Diapason Award Muse d'Or). Recently, the sonatas of Charles Graziani have also recorded for Arcana.
He plays with the Baroque Orchestra Zefiro with which he has recorded various CDs for Ambroisie, Sony and Deutsches Harmonia Mundi. She has been a member of the Ensemble 415 of Chiara Banchini and of the Quintet of the Ensemble 415, with whom she performed on tour in Europe and Japan, and has recorded for Zig Zag Territoires.
Sara Bennici also performs with renowned baroque ensembles such as the Ensemble Aurora, Accordone, Akademia, Brixia Musicalis and others, and participates in important festivals in Italy and abroad.
He plays a cello by Barak Norman built in London in 1710.
