Siân James (born in Llanerfyl, Montgomeryshire, Wales, 24 December 1961) is a Welsh traditional folk singer and harpist. From an early age Siân participated in local eisteddfodau, playing the piano, the violin and later the harp. While still a student at Llanfair Caereinion High School, she began composing her own songs and arranging traditional Welsh music. She went on to read music at Bangor University. She has recorded for Sain and BBC Records as well as her own label, Bos. She is also well-known for her acting work on Welsh language television.
She has released nine albums – four on Sain Records, 'Birdman' for BBC Worldwide (a special commission of original and traditional music for BBC2), 'Cymun' ('Communion'), 'Pur' ('Pure'), 'Y Ferch o Bedlam' ('The Girl from Bedlam') and 'Adar ac Anifeiliaid' ('Birds and Animals'), on Bos Records.
