"The Griswolds" are a four-piece indie rock band from Sydney, Australia. The band formed by singer Christopher Whitehall, guitarist Daniel Duque-Perez, bassist Tim John, drummer Chris Riley, and keyboardist Lachlan West in February 2012 and signed with Wind-up Records, one of the world's largest indie rock labels, in May 2013 and began recording their debut album shortly after with producer Tony Hoffer. The Griswolds began gaining momentum four months into their career when the band became a Triple J Unearthed feature artist after winning a slot on the 2012 Parklife Festival line-up alongside Passion Pit and The Presets.
After success touring in their native Australia, the band made their first live appearance in New York City on May 11, 2013 at the Brooklyn Bowl.
They are Named after Chevy Chase's hapless family in the Vacation movies.
