"Mree", real name Marie Hsiao an indie folk singer-songwriter from New Jersey. She is of Taiwanese and Bulgarian descent. Mree began writing her own songs at the age of 14 and released her debut album, Grow, in October 2011.
She began her career, like many young artists today, performing cover songs on YouTube, helping gain her several million video views and tens of thousands of subscribers and Facebook fans worldwide.
She is a skilled multi-instrumentalist whose voice is often described as “angelic” while her lyrics portray a depth well beyond her young age. Mree is the consummate artist who not only records and produces her own music but films and edits her music videos with stunning visual results.
As a performer, Mree has appeared at famed NYC venues including the Highline Ballroom and Rockwood Music Hall. She has also performed on the college circuit at Universities such as Rutgers, Princeton, Roger Williams, UPenn, Millersville, and Mercyhurst. In the summer she can be found on the stages of some of the biggest music festivals including Musikfest and the Black Potatoe Festival.
