Sloy was a french indie rock band, formed in 1991 in Béziers by Armand Gonzalez (voice, guitar), Cyril Bilbeaud (drums) and Virginie Peitavi (guitar, bass), then moved to Rennes and disbanded in 2000. They emerged thanks to the collaboration of Steve Albini, who produced their first albums.
In 1996, the band launched their own label, Tubes Records. After their split, Armand and Virginie would form the short-live project Sabo and then 69, while drummer Cyril would join Versari and be part of the avant garde rock group Zone Libre.
Their music was influenced by new wave bands like Devo, Public Image Limited, Talking Heads or Joy Division, and noise rock groups like Jesus Lizard or Shellac. They played a singular and energetic kind of rock and are considered one of the most influential bands of the 90's french indie scene.
