Artist Biography Available in: Iris Hond (1987) knew at a very young age that the piano would determine her life. Not only because they loved music, or really liked to play - no, it was her much further. Playing the piano was her equal to eat, drink and sleep: do it for a few days and you get sick.
From her birthplace Harderwijk she took private lessons in Ermelo and she studied at the Conservatory of Zwolle. At fourteen she moved to The Hague to pursue her studies there at the Young Talent department of the Royal Conservatoire. She studied at Kamilla Bystrova David Kuyken and Professor Naum Grubert, with whom she also follows her master's degree.
Iris Dog not only impressed, for example, the juries of the Theo van der Pas Piano Competition (1st prize), Grachtenfestival Conservatory Competition (Audience Award) and the Steinway Competition (2nd prize). On that latter prestigious competition pianist also won the Audience Award, an award that was at least as important to her. Because contact with the public is one of her greatest motivations.
