Adrian Mears (* 1 May 1969 in Waratah in Newcastle (Australia) ) is an Australian jazz trombonist and composer, particularly in the field of modern jazz has emerged. Besides trumpet he plays the trumpet, piano and didgeridoo. Mears to 1989 studied at the Sydney Conservatorium for Music in Australia, including in Mike Nock , and later privately with Steve Turre , Robin Eubanks , Richie Beirach , Slide Hampton and Conrad Herwig New York. While still a student, he won awards for "Best Australian trombonist" (1992 and 1994), 1990, his band, the Free Spirits , honored as best Australian jazz group. 1988 and 1992 he won the Australian competition for jazz composition. He also played with the head of the Australian jazz scene, among others, Paul Grabowsky , Bernie McGann , the formation Ten Part Invention , Dale Barlow and James Morrison .
