In 1969 Ronnie James Dio (vocals & bass) (guitar) and Nick Pantas formed a band called The Electric Elves. Other members were David Feinstein (guitar), Gary Driscoll (drums), and Doug Thaler (keyboards).
During mid-1969 the name was shortened to The Elves before releasing their second single. The band lineup remained the same until mid 1970, when they all were involved in a car crash.
The car crash killed Nick Pantas, and it ended also the band. Some of the members of The Elves continued later on as Elf.
