"Confessions of a Romance Novelist" is the debut full length studio album from The Anchoress aka Catherine Anne Davies. Released on 15 January 2016, on the Kscope label.
The album was made over a two-year period, with recording interrupted by a series of events that threatened to derail the project completely, including Catherine injuring her hand so badly during a 2 day recording session that she was told she might not play again.
At Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating out of 100 to reviews from critics, the album received an average score of 68, based on 9 reviews, indicating "generally favorable reviews".
George Meixner for The Line of Best Fit wrote "Lovingly co-produced with Paul (Mansun) Draper, Davies is on startling form throughout, layering spellbinding vocal harmonies and turning her hand to a long list of instruments with names few will even recognise.
