Shrines is the debut album of Canadian electronica duo Purity Ring. It was announced on April 23, 2012 by 4AD and was released on July 24, 2012. The album reached number 100 on the UK Albums Chart. In the United States, it reached number thirty-two on the Billboard 200 and number two on the Dance/Electronic Albums.
The album was listed 24th on Pitchfork Media's staff lists top 50 albums of 2012 and 14th on the reader list. It was also ranked 29th on Stereogum's list of top 50 albums of 2012 and 50th on NME's best albums of 2012 list. The album was named a shortlisted nominee for the 2013 Polaris Music Prize on June 13, 2013.
The tracks "Ungirthed," "Belispeak," "Obedear," "Fineshrine," and "Lofticries" were released as singles. In the UK, "Lofticries" was released on 26 November 2012, while "Fineshrine" was released on 4 March 2013. The music video for "Lofticries" was released on the Pitchfork.tv, the Youtube account of Pitchfork Media.
