Album Description
Available in:
The second of two CDs coming from the same two days of sessions in Japan, this set once again matches organist Jimmy Smith with drummer Jimmie Smith (no relation) and guitarist Kenny Burrell. Actually, other than occasional spots for Burrell, the focus is entirely on the organist, who is heard in top form, showing off both his technique and his melodic creativity. The better of the two releases, this hard bop-oriented performance features the trio on five veteran standards plus T-Bone Walker's "Stormy Monday." Highlights include "My Romance" and a swinging "Mack the Knife."
