2002: Tiken Jah Fakoly joins Barclay Records, owned and distributed by Universal Music France. He releases “Françafrique”, recorded in Jamaica in the legendary Tuff Gong studios alongside the famous Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare.
2003:“Françafrique” wins Best Reggae-Ragga-World album in the Victoires de la Musique awards and is certified gold. Political events in Ivory Coast force him to leave the country. Tiken Jah Fakoly is forced into exile in Bamako, Mali.
