This hard-rockin’ Canadian quartet excels at creating lush melodies, harmonies and aural dissonance. The vivid, thick arrangement of "Chorus of the Birds" generously displays all of Lucerin Blue’s talents: heavy but clean guitars, complex chord structures, subtle harmonies and poetic lyrics ("We wrestle with scars that separate on the other side of things /We’re covered with different wings…").
But "Chorus of the Birds" is basically as good as it gets. Elsewhere, the chord progressions and rhythmic structures get homogenous, and the lyrics lean away from poetry toward more adrenaline-charged teen angst. The band’s music certainly needs more refining, but all the tools are there for a memorable rock experience.
