User Album Review
It is perhaps useful to know that this CD does not contain the full recordings of the original this disc, which was recorded at the label "Clef Records" in 1956 and produced by Norman Granz.
Wynton Kelly and Kenny Burell are there with it, but only track 1,5 and 16 are from this session.
Incidentally, this CD is a compilation of various recordings of Billie Holiday from the years 52-59. With Hank Jones, Oscar Peterson, Benny Carter and Ray Brown as contributors.
From the master tapes the best possible was certainly taken out, but the differences in quality between the original recordings is clearly audible, those from 1952 still sound somewhat muffled. The tracks 6,9,12,18 from 1959, however, are of excellent quality and the only in stereo. However, the incomparable voice of Billie Holiday can eventually forget all inequalities and gives this compilation but a rounded character.
