The Number of the Beast es el tercer álbum de estudio de la banda británica de heavy metal Iron Maiden, publicado en marzo de 1982. Este trabajo supone el primero con el vocalista Bruce Dickinson y el último con el percusionista Clive Burr.

The Number of the Beast tuvo un gran éxito entre la crítica y el público, y llegó el puesto número uno en Reino Unido para la banda y la certificación de disco de platino en Estados Unidos. Dos sencillos fueron extraídos del álbum: «The Number of the Beast» y «Run to the Hills»; este último fue el primer sencillo de la banda en alcanzar el top 10 en Reino Unido. El álbum también tuvo polémica debido a la naturaleza profana de las letras y su portada.

Desde el lanzamiento de The Number of the Beast y su correspondiente gira, The Beast on the Road, «The Beast» (La Bestia) ha sido un nombre alternativo para Iron Maiden, y sería más tarde utilizado en los títulos de algunos recopilatorios y trabajos en directo, como por ejemplo Best of the Beast y Visions of the Beast.
