Artist Biography "Warsaw Village Band" (Polish: Kapela ze wsi Warszawa) is a band from Warsaw, Poland, that plays traditional Polish folk music tunes combined with modern elements.
They formed in 1997 as a group of friends, after a few years of presence on the Polish folk stage, and recording the album "Hop Sa sa" (1997) WVB started their international career in 2002 when German label Jaro released their second album "People's Spring" . According to Urlich Balss (Jaro's owner), reaction for the album was one of the biggest surprises in the history of the company. From unknown Polish band, WVB gets into the main World Music stage!
In 2004 Warsaw Village Band won the prestigious BBC Radio 3 Award for World Music as "best newcomer", the same year the European Broadcasting Union award for the best folk recording.
