For over 15 years, Yvan Peacemaker (whose real name is Yvan Jaquemet) has been an important composer and producer in Switzerland, France and Germany. He is particularly well-known for his work in hip hop music. Here are a few words about his life and a few examples of what the man has done so far.
Yvan was seven when, following his parents’ wise advice, he began taking classical piano lessons. But learning required much regularity and he often preferred playing soccer with his friends rather than working on his instrument. However he went on taking lessons and playing the piano, never giving it up. A sensible decision which he was not going to regret!
He was thirteen when he played on an electronic keyboard for the first time, which was a revelation for the young teenager he was at the time. He started to realize that he could record different instruments all by himself… and even create rhythmical patterns, in short, become a one man orchestra! A dream come true for Yvan. So his parents bought him his first electronic keyboard, a gift he treasured immensely. He decided that music would become his profession and it did.
Two years later, Yvan was fifteen and some friends asked him to join them as a beatmaker in a rap band. The name of the band and even the band members would frequently change until finally in 1994 DOUBLE PACT (Stress, Nega and Yvan) was born and would soon become famous.
With their first album critical success (“Impact no 3” / 1995), DOUBLE PACT started meeting French rappers and Yvan began to work with artists such as IDEAL J, FABE, MANU KEY or 113.
French rap was booming at the time and Yvan’s melodic and full-of-life compositions fitted in perfectly.
In the early 2000′s, PASSI, ROHFF and PIT BACCARDI also asked Yvan to work for them.
His first big hit came with R’n'B singer JALANE and her song “Ma musique“, which reached the Top 10 charts in France in 2001.
After that came three more successful songs Yvan produced: SNIPER’s “Gravé dans la roche“, ROHFF’s “Miroir, Miroir” and DIAM’s “Daddy“.
Germany became interested in his work and Yvan contributed to MASSIVE TöNE’s success with the singles “Cruisen” and “Traumreise“. He also worked with ASD on “Sneak Preview“.
It took Yvan Peacemaker only a few years to become a major figure as a producer in the European hip hop music scene.
When DOUBLE PACT split in the early 2000′s,Yvan took part in his friend STRESS’ solo adventure, as a composer and producer.
In 2005, their second album went gold in Switzerland… their crowning achievement… ten years of hard passionate work are rewarded.
The following years are even richer in emotion and success. Yvan produces SINIK’s “Ne dis jamais” and “Rue des Bergères“, as well as SNIPER’s “Brûle“. He also produces “Mauvais garçon” for BOOBA and “Cours” for JOEY STARR (of NTM). In Germany, BUSHIDO asks him to work on “Heile Welt“. In Switzerland, STRESS’ albums “Renaissance ” and “Des Rois, des pions et des fous” are double platinum. GIMMA’s single “Superschwiizer” is a huge success as well.
In 2010-11, Yvan continues to compose and produce for other artists, such as STRESS or BLIGG (for whom he writes “Romeo & Julia” and “I’d kill for you“).
Always looking to try new things, he has decided to write his own album and explore different paths other than hip hop. Like TIMBALAND and MARK RONSON, he has invited singers from different musical backgrounds to come and sing on his new material.
Some songs are already finished and he is more than happy with the result. The songs creatively blend soul music, pop music and hip hop rhythms.
This new album release is scheduled for May 2012… Already looking forward !Wide ThumbClearartFanartBanner User Comments
