Artist Biography

There are 2 bands with name Finis Africae: 1. Finis Africae was part of the "new wave" of Spanish music which gradually emerged after the end of the Francoist regime. Using modern electric instruments and traditional acoustic instruments from many cultures blended together via studio alchemy, a magic which grew even stronger with the acquisition of a sixteen-track recorder after their second release, Finis Africæ created an outward-looking musical multiverse, an unclassifiable amalgam encompassing elements of folk traditions from all over the world, skillfully and lovingly shaped into an inclusive pan-global whole. Deeply influenced by African music, the group's reverberant, organic minimal funk will appeal to DJs as well as all who yearn for the loving warmth that comes with the embrace of global possibilities 2. Finis Africae was formed in Brasília in 1984. The Band recorded an EP, and later moved to Rio De Janeiro, recording an album at EMI in 1987, achieving good results in the charts with the hit single "Armadilha". In 1988 former members Neto Pavanelli (Bass) and José Flores (Guitar) quit the group and were substituted by Roberto Medeiros, and Cesar Ninne as welll as guitar/Keyboard player Mcgregor. The band split in 1990, and was rejoined only in 1998 touring again and releasing "Finis Africae Ao Vivo" recorded in Brasília in 2000.
