Album Description
Available in:
Feral Youth is the debut LP by Wakes, the project of Tim Oxton, based in Boston, Massachusetts (US). Started in late 2012 the ’50s-meets-’80s sensation previously released music under the name ‘Polaroids’, causing a blogging stir with a cover of Grimes ‘Oblivion’.

Coming out of the same Boston scene which has recently spawned the likes of Speedy Ortiz and Pile, Wakes describes his music as “built on a foundation of reverb, misplaced 80s nostalgia, and late nights.”

Self recorded, Feral Youth follows a series of self-released ep’s by the prolific songwriter.

Mark from Shape Records on Wakes: “I discovered his music via Bandcamp and was blown away. It was all free to download & I dj’ed one of the tracks one night in Cardiff. Three separate people came up and asked me what it was so I was even more sold. I emailed Tim to ask if he was into the idea of a vinyl release & the rest is history! Headlights exemplifies why we are so excited to be working with Wakes”

The first single ‘Headlights’ described as”punchy lo-fi pop” by Vanyaland.com.
