Album Description
Available in:
It semi-acoustic project February puts Kane's oeuvre in a whole new perspective. We know the company around Woesthoff and Dennis van Leeuwen especially compelling rock band, here we find them in a more intimate nightclub-like atmosphere.
February was recorded on 22 and 23 February 2003 at the Pepsi Stage in Amsterdam. Among these are the musicians - smartly dressed - on a revolving stage, around which were built again stands for the public. This to bring out the interaction with the audience and intimacy of the show to better advantage.
For this occasion the band was completed with keyboards, acoustic guitar, sax and trumpet. Drummer Martijn Bosman beats the rhythm with tassels. Manuel Hugas pumped up the bass. Guitar Dennis van Leeuwen accompanied as usual peerless. Nico Brandsen late Hammond roles. Mike Booth blows a jazzy bugle solo. Peter Lieberom doing his saxophone cry. And Wiboud Burkens scatters the most atmospheric piano notes, while Cor Mutsers excels with flamenco-like fireworks on the acoustic guitar.
This setting provides singer Woesthoff every opportunity to show his versatility. Now he is an emotional crooner, then a stage beast charged again. Never before have we seen him bring his personal 'blues' as convincingly the limelight. Never before, he also gave us the chance to look so deeply into his soul, as here in February. At the same time he gives us the opportunity to celebrate a party with him.
Because Dinand and the other members Kane transform the Pepsi Stage for this performance a cozy nightclub into a stomping gospel church, which almost explodes from the swing. The commandments repertoire, from modest to very exuberant, also admits any reason. They are the famous Kane songs, who have lived in our collective consciousness has so far only in rock form. Through February, we now know that classics like Where Do I Go Now, So Glad You Made It Rain Down On Me or also can shine outside a rock atmosphere. These are the songs and their strength here doing the work.
