"Up on the Lowdown" is the sixth full length studio album of American folk/blues singer /songwriter Chris Smither, first released in 1995 on the HighTone Records label. Up On The Lowdown marked the first of a trio of albums to be recorded with producer Stephen Bruton at The Hit Shack in Austin and his first of five albums with roots label HighTone Records. His song, “I Am The Ride,” from this album inspired the independent film, The Ride, for which Smither also composed the original score.
