The ensemble FisFüz processes musical influences from the Middle East, the Mediterranean, North Africa and the Baltic States. Their second CD production SimSim , released in 2000 in Germany, was also released three years later in the USA.
Since 2004, the ensemble works as a trio, consisting of the two founding members and the native of Istanbul Gürkan Balkan (guitar and oud ). Since 2008, the ensemble has been giving guest performances abroad through the Goethe-Institut . For example, it has performed at the Ankara Jazz Festival 2009, the Nikosia Jazz Festival 2012 and the Sama Music Festival Khartoum (Sudan) 2015.
Murat Coskun already played together with the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra , the other band members have many years of experience in the field of early music , baroque music and new music . This resulted in the program Mozart a la Turca (with stylistic borrowings from The Abduction from the Seraglio ), which was performed, among others, at the Mozart Festival in Würzburg in 2011 , and the program Mozart in the East (an orchestration of own pieces for large symphony orchestra), 2012 in the Festspielhaus St. Pölten with the Tonkünstlern Niederösterreich and on theTent music festival Freiburg was heard. In 2005, Annette Maye wrote her diploma thesis in jazz clarinet on jazz clarinetist and saxophonist Gianluigi Trovesi . Since then, the ensemble FisFüz has been forging a musical friendship with Trovesi, from which joint concert tours in 2010 and 2012 in Germany and Austria and the CD release Papillons , which was honored in September 2012 in hr 2 as "CD of the Week".
In the spring of 2016, the anniversary album Bonsai - 20 years of Oriental Jazz was released , in which the ensemble once again dedicates itself to the most important musical stages of its musical journey from two decades of band history.
