Saturnino Celani, also known as Saturnino (Ascoli Piceno, 26 October 1969), is a bassist, composer and Italian record producer.
In his albums there are several musical genres, in which are perceived the classical influences derived from violin studies in his youth, but also of rock, jazz, hip hop and funk.
Biography:
From an early age he devoted himself to the study of the violin, before discovering the electric bass at the age of 14. Become part of some local bands exploring different musical genres.
In 1985 he joined the hardcore punk group Dictatrista. The group will dissolve in 1986.
Since 1991 he is the bass player of Jovanotti, known in a recording studio in Milan, with whom he wrote many songs of the artist, among which we find: Coraggio, Bruto, Welcome to the jungle, Lucky boy, I no, Serenade Rap, Attaccami the plug, Soleluna, For you, Save me, I think positive, The navel of the world, Noon, Safari, The greatest show after the Big Bang, Saturday, The immortals, Kiss me again, soundtrack of the homonymous film by Gabriele Muccino winner of the David di Donatello as best original song, and many others. In 1995 he made his debut as a soloist with the album Testa di basso, in which he played, in addition to bass, guitar and drums. In the following years he published two more solo albums, Zelig and Clima, and a live album, Satournino. In 1997 he produced for the label Soleluna the first work of Giovanni Allevi 13 fingers. In 1998, moreover, he participated as an actor in the 883 film, Jolly Blu, as the talent scout who discovers Max Pezzali. In the same film Jovanotti also participated in the role of the president of the record company. In 1999 he collaborated on the realization of the song My name is never again, with Jovanotti, Ligabue and Piero Pelù. It is his bass solo in the song Libera l'anima di Jovanotti, which in theory has the voice of Elsa Dall'Era.
Over the years he has collaborated with many artists, including Franco Battiato, playing in his album L'imboscata, Mietta, Gigi Cifarelli, Michal "Patches" Stewart, Pino Daniele, Luca Carboni, 883, Max Pezzali, Zero Assoluto, Pippo Pollina, Stylophonic, Roy Paci & Aretuska.
In 2004 he made a tour entitled "Bass to the bones", with the musicians Riccardo Onori, guitarist with him in the band of Jovanotti, DJ Aladyn and Riccardo Speca.
In 2010 he collaborates with the rock group Bud Spencer Blues Explosion and with the singer and DJ Alessio Bertallot at the studio recording in Milan of the LCD cover Soundsystem Daft Punk Is Playing at my House.
In 2013 he directed the TV program Guerrieri on La7.
In 2015 he published his first autobiography, curated by Massimo Poggini and titled Testa di basso, as his first solo album. In the same year he wrote together with Emis Killa a song dedicated to the Milan soccer team.
