The Schönberg Ensemble is a Dutch musical ensemble founded in 1974 by Reinbert de Leeuw whose repertoire is mainly devoted to contemporary music.
History:
Since its foundation, the ensemble, whose name pays tribute to the composer Arnold Schönberg, has been directed by Reinbert de Leeuw. The Schönberg Ensemble's vocation is to play and promote contemporary music, especially that of living artists. Many works of the late twentieth century composers such as Isang Yun, Morton Feldman, Sofia Gubaidulina, Henryk Górecki, Louis Andriessen, Klaas de Vries and Mauricio Kagel were dedicated and created by this chamber music training.
