The ensemble Bizzarrie Armoniche, founded by the cellist Elena Russo, brings together musicians who have long been studying and performing music of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries on period instruments.All the members of the group have an intense concert activity performing in the most prestigious venues and at the most important festivals in Italy, the United States, Japan, South America and Australia, working with various important orchestras and chamber groups (il Giardino Armonico, Accademia Bizantina, Concerto Italiano, Le Concert des Nations, etc.) and with soloists of international fame.
Since 2002 the ensemble's first CD has been available under the title of Donne Barocche for Opus 111, devoted entirely to the music of female composers of the seventeenth century (10/10 Classics Today). In 2005 they published their second CD La Vendetta on the Alte Musik label of ORF Austrian Radio, featuring instrumental and vocal works by Barbara Strozzi, Elisabeth-Claude Jacquet de la Guerre and Antonia Bembo. The Bizzarrie Armoniche ensemble has been invited to perform at several international festivals of early music in Europe and in Italy, (Musica e Poesia a San Maurizio, Milan, Trigonale Festival - Austria in 2003 and in 2004, Koncertna Zagreb, Musikfestpiele Potsdam Sanssouci, Netwerk Oude Muziek, tour in Holland 2006, Augustinus Muziekcentrum, Antwerp).
