Born in Celje, Slovenia in 1962. He graduated from the Academy of Music in Ljubljana, Slovenia and completed his studies with Herbert Henck in Cologne, Germany.
He has worked with a variety of conductors, composers and performers; Luciano Berio, Vinko Globokar, Henri Dutilleux, George Crumb, Jane Manning, Irena Grafenauer, John-Edward Kelly, David Harman, Walter Proost, Les Percussion de Strasbourg,...

He recorded Erik Satie’s complete piano opus (10 CDs), George Crumb’s complete opus for piano and two pianos (4 CDs), Charles Ives’ Concord-Sonata and Philip Glass’ Solo Piano and The Complete Piano Etudes (1-20) for the Dutch label Blaricum Music Group (Audiophile Classics series), for which he was the exclusive recording artist for many years. Most recently, he has received high regard for his interpretations of Arvo Pärt and Philip Glass. In 2013 he released another CD by Satie — his second recording after 22 years, recorded in an art gallery housed in a former monastery, that is known for its unique acoustics.
He was awarded the Golden Bird award in 1986 and the Prešeren Fund award in 2006 for creativity in the field of music.
He is a professor for chamber music at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana and regularly performs recitals and concerts.
