Artist Biography
Available in: gb icon
Robin Stine has performed across the U.S., Canada, South America, Asia and Europe sharing her personal brand of genre-bending jazz and original songwriting. Recent activities include performing in and acting as Musical Director in France for the original rock opera La Caroline. She's also travelled to Sicily to perform in the city of Bivona for the Serata Jazz Program where she was joined by Sicilian and Polish jazz musicians in the city's first jazz night. A highlight of her time in Florida has been appearing on stage with multi Grammy award-winning composer and arranger Danilo Perez of Panama in his "Tribute to Latin Jazz" concert as part of the 25th annual Great American Jazz Series. Over the last few years, she has performed as guest artist for several goups including the University of North Florida Orchestra and Jazz Ensembles, University of West Florida Jazz Ensemble, and at Jacksonville's Celebration of Women.

Robin launched her self-released album Daydream in 2005 with Piety Street Recording Studios of New Orleans and Millbrook Recording Studios in New York. With producer Mark Bingham, who's worked with everyone from Dr. John to the Blind Boys of Alabama to the Black Eyed Peas, she assembled an enviably experienced crew to record with her including pianist Warren Bernhardt (Steps Ahead, Jack DeJohnette, Gerry Mulligan), drummer Gary Burke (Joe Jackson, Bob Dylan), trumpeter Steven Bernstein (Sex Mob, Roswell Rudd, Medeski Martin & Wood, Don Byron), and her fellow Kansas City native, guitarist Steve Cardenas (Norah Jones, Madeleine Peyroux, Paul Motian, Mark Isham).

The Independent News described her album as "a truly unique sound infusing traditional jazz with a youthful, bluesy folk vibe". Indie Launchpad called it "an exceptional album from an exceptional artist". Daydream is a sleek collection of a dozen original jazzy, bluesy numbers that immediately sound like comfortable standards. The melancholy title track “Daydream”, the only co-write on the album, was written with Chris Whiteman at the University of Miami. The album's other originals were written over a six-month period while Robin rebuilt her home in the wake of Hurricane Ivan.

Her songs have been featured on network television shows such as The Today Show, The Young and the Restless, and USA Network's Necessary Roughness. Robin's awards include the Just Plain Folks Songwriting Competition and Jazz/Blues Vocalist of the Year for the Independent News. Her music has been featured on numerous radio shows across the U.S., Europe, and Asia including Prezemek Draheim's Blues Radio Show in Poland, Rundfunk Berlin Brandenburg in Germany, and public radio in Italy. Robin regularly appears in Florida as a featured guest artist and teaches voice in her vocal studio.
